Oh Gnome! A Beleated Birthday Card created for the August Inspiration Station Challenge
Hello everyone! I'm here to share my August Inspiration Station Challenge with you all and hopefully inspire you to join the challenge this month! I created this adorable gnome themed belated birthday card for this month's challenge and I love how it turned out.
The Inspiration Station Challenge: August
The
Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of
crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to
the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for
inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!
You can find all the details and link up your projects to play along on the Inspiration Station Challenge Blog! P.S by entering your projects you get entered into a giveaway!
Making the Gnome Card
The really fun thing about the Inspiration Station Challenge is that you get to chose how to be inspired by the monthly image! I was initially going to go with a unicorn theme because that is what stood out to me but then I discovered that I don't have any unicorns in my stash! (shocking I know!) So I changed it up and decided to be inspired by the cake and the more broad category of magical creatures! And that is how I chose to use this cute gnome holding a cupcake, he is magical and there is cake!
The background for my card was actually created with leftovers from a different project. I had extra Salvaged Petina Distress ink smooshed out that I was using for watercolor leftover so I created a few backgrounds with it. When I was water-colouring I was also using some Metallic watercolours and I purposely used the same brush so that the background has some subtle sparkle from leftover metallic pigments in the brush.
I die cut this background using a deckle edge A2 die and adhered it to a Desert Sand cardbase after stamping the sentiments directly onto the cardfront.
I stamped out the gnome with alcohol marker friendly ink and coloured him using my Ohuhu alcohol markers. Marker shades listed below:
Ohuhu Markers used:
- B64, PB9 & G322
- Y13, E370, E240 & E210
- WG01, CG2 & CGII00
- R20 & E010
I added some details with a blue glitter gel pen and popped the gnome up with foam tape on my card. To finish I added a few Antique Gold pearls around the gnome and that was it!
