Happy October my crafty friends!
I'm sharing this fun pumpkin covered card for the October Inspiration Station Challenge today. I had fun playing with lots of fall colours and a layering stencil.
The October Inspiration Station
The Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!
You can find all the details and link up your projects to play along on the Inspiration Station Challenge Blog!
My Project
For this card I used the Pumpkin Party layering stencil from Studio Light to create my background. I used Distress inks in the colours, Fired Brick, Dried Marigold, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness for the pumpkins and pulled in a little Gathered Twigs for the stems.
To add some more interest, I went through with a white gel pen and added little dots to all the pumpkins. Then I cut my cardfront panel down to 4" x 5.25" and mounted it on an A2 white cardbase.
I die cut two leaves from vellum using the Buckeye Leaf wafer die from Simon Says Stamp for my focal point. Then I heat embossed the "Hello" sentiment in white on some brown cardstock and die cut it out. I die cut extra layers of the sentiment so I could layer it up and give it some dimension.
I adhered the leaves to the centre of the card by just gluing down their stems so the glue didn't show through the vellum and then I added the sentiment right in the centre of the card.
To finish off the card front I added some red heart embellishments around the sentiment.
To decorate the inside of the card, I used one of the vellum scraps I had die cut the leaves from and used it like a stencil to ink blend on the inside of the card with the same inks I used on the pumpkins. After I finished stencilling, I stamped an additional sentiment on the inside of the card using some brown ink and this finished off the card!
I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created this card and will considering joining us for this month's challenge! All the info about how to participate is on the Inspiration Station Challenge blog.
