The December Inspiration Station Challenge
The Inspiration Station Challenge is a monthly challenge for all types of crafty projects. It starts the first Monday of each month and runs to the end of the month. Each month there is a new image to use for inspiration and it is a perfect way to jump start you creativity!
You can find all the details and link up your projects to play along on the Inspiration Station Challenge Blog!
My Project
For my project today I used one of the Stamptember exclusive sets that I treated myself to this year. This set was a collaboration between Simon Says Stamp and MFT Stamps. The adorable cookie theme of this stamp set works perfectly for this challenge.
I started out by stamping out all the images in an alcohol marker friendly ink before colouring them all in using my Ohuhu alcohol markers. After colouring, I fussy cut all the images out.
For the background I did some simple ink blending with Spun Sugar Distress Ink and added some texture using a plaid stencil. I popped up all the images with some thin foam squares and stamped the sentiment onto the background before adhering it down to an A2 cardbase. To finish I added some sparkle with some Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard over the cookies.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my project and reading about how I created it! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I really appreciate it!

Lovely card you made! What a great idea using smaller stamped image (I have some but hardly used as I have no idea how to fit it nicely on a A5 size card) and splendid result of the background inkling. May I know how is the plaid background done? Besides plaid stencil, what else is used to create that background effect? Sorry for asking too much! Wishing you and your family a very happy Christmas.

Sorry about the late response! I didn't see your comment!
DeleteFor the background I used a bit of low stick masking tape to mask off the bottom 1/2" off the card panel before blending through the stencil. I concentrated most of the ink towards the bottom of the card panel, right above the making tape and faded it out as I blended up so that there was hardly any ink at the top. Then I removed the stencil and blended over the area again to soften the lines. Again I concentrated the ink at the bottom and used less ink as I went up so that the pink was darkest at the bottom right above the masking tape and then faded away into white. After I finished blending I removed the masking tape so that there was a nice sharp line between the ink blending and the card panel. I think this helps ground the critters because it looks like they are on a white floor in front of a pink patterned wall.
I hope this helps!
